Throw Back Thursday - 1945 Miss America

I want to share an awesome picture with y'all. It is of some of the contestants in the 1945 Miss America pageant.
I do not own this photo!

There has been much talk about this picture in the last few weeks. Facebook comments ranging from sweet to absolutely disgusting. There even was a post about the lack of thigh gaps.

Thigh gaps...

Let's talk about that. If you are healthy and love your body, why does it matter if anyone else has a thigh gap? Do you have one? Great. Whatever the answer, great. You know why? Its your body and it does so many amazing things and having a thigh gap or not does not make it any less you or valuable. You are more then a thigh gap or lack there of.

Thigh gaps are currently what girls are told we are supposed to want. Super models have them and movie stars have them. And you too, 14 year old girl should have them. No. Today's standards of beauty will not last into the next century. By the time I have grandchildren the "look" will have changed.

You know what will never change? Being emotionality and physically healthy and loving yourself.

The ladies in this picture were and are beautiful. I am sure none of them ever thought almost 70 years later people would be talking about their thighs. Be happy you have legs to walk on and love your self!

Here is a link to the thigh gaps post and they list a source for this picture as reddit.

Shakeology and the weigh in that never happened.

I was supposed to start my shakeology journey on Monday and do a weigh in for y'all, so we can see how well it works. Well you see, the thing is.... I don't want to. I don't want to put my weight on here, no matter what I weigh, someone will have something negative to say about my experience and I'm just not ready for that.

And shakeology will not be happening. Yes, I did buy the 21 day fix kit, but the price of the shake mix (129.99$) is beyond out of control for a 30 serving bag.

I will however chronical that here if I feel like any of it is interesting. I'm still waiting on the kit to arrive, 2 day shipping my left foot!

I do need to lose weight its a fact. I want to do a cycling marathon, and I really need to get in better shape. My training is at a standstill and this is something I have set as a fitness goal for my self.

I hope all of you will stick around and see me through this!

Water Challenge

Today I'm starting a month of water, challenge. My goal is to drink at least two liters of water a day. I'm cutting out all sodas, juices, dairy, and coffee from my daily life for one month. I will allow my self unsweetened tea though, but I can't count it towards my water goals.

I want to see if I have any health or skin improvmnts. Any little thing you can do to try and get healthier, right??

I got this cool water jug, it came with a freezer cartridge and matching reusable ice cubes. Also it hold dunnn dunnn dunnnn...... Two liters of water! I'll be checking in with some skin pics and an accountability log for y'all! Happy water drinking!

Nothing, but Sewing and Shakeology

I had big plans for posting today, but I come empty handed. I have been down with a cold and strep all week and just feel like poo. I did do something neat this week though. I got a brand new embroidery machine from Amazon. It arrived last night, once I get it up and running I will share that with you guys.

It's a Brother PE500  http://support.brother.com/g/b/producttop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hf_pe500eus
Photo from brother.com
I am so excited, I'm going to monogram everything y'all, even my unmentionables. Just kidding....or maybe not.

Also, I'm starting the 21 day fix and Shakeology on Monday. Definitely will be sharing that here as well. I will be doing a weigh in on Monday and we can go though this together!

If any of y'all want to talk about sewing or weight loss, two totally mismatched subjects, please comment below! This is my life, things don't always just go together, but you make it work. Life is not divided into little blog posts, it comes all at once, right in your face.

Man Crush Monday - #1 (Mr. Darcy)

I don't own this picture, I just edited it.

Today's blog is in honor of one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Fitzwilliam Darcy. The misunderstood hero of Pride and Prejudice, fame. He was dashing and at times rude and mean, and he was misunderstood in his motivations at times. But he was always a gentleman and by turns you learn who he really is. Jane Austin, wrote Mr. Darcy so well, and he has been better described, by better writers. I am only a girl with a blog. And he was my fist true love. The idea of him has appealed to so many girls and women, for centuries, and I hope future generations of bookish girls, will live him too. So I present my Man Crush Monday, Mr. Darcy.
I don't own this picture. I just love it.

Lazy Sunday

I woke up at 8:30 and was left feeling exceptionally lazy. I should have gone back to bed but a 10:00 appointment forced me into joining the word of the living. Note to self, "Stop staying up so damned late!" When I came back home at 11:00 I started my twitter and tumbler pages for the blog and I made a cute little cake for afternoon tea with my great aunt.

I made a yellow cake filled with blueberry and lavender jam, iced with chocolate whipped cream. It sounds crazy but, it is ohh so good. I have the recipe for a blueberry and lavender refrigerator jam. If any one is interested leave a comment and I will put it up!

I got home and have been pretty much doing nothing since. I hope y'all can enjoy a lazy Sunday as well.

Vintage Blues

I thought I would do a Saturday Share tonight. This is part of my collection of vintage blue jewelry and one of my favorite blue tea cups.
And the cups mark

What do you have for Saturday Show and Tell?

Day in my life. Weekday Version - Episode 1 (And the rules of Hide and Clap)

This is my everyday boring life! Enjoy! Next time I'll definitely plan on doing this on a more interesting day, but for now Enjoy!

Every morning I wake up at 6:50 and start my day with these guys.
Good Mythical Morning! I can't gather the strength to get out of bed until I've watched at least 2 videos on my phone.

Next is time to rush and get dressed, I usually have fooled around to long and by this point am about to be late.

OOTD. Scrubs. Yummy. Guess what I do for a living!

Next I fix my hair, wash my face and apply moisturizer and brush my teeth. Daily skin care. wooohoo.

Breakfast of champions. I'm trying to be healthier and this is as good as it gets on a weekday.

Shall I show you my going to work traffic? Yes!

Next is work, I cannot show you that however I will tell you I'm super ready for a break by lunch time. And as you from my last post, I enjoy lunch alone, peace and quite. Normally I pack a lunch but I ran out of time soooo. Taco Bell naturally happened. 2 chicken tacos and an unsweetened tea please and thank you.
And this was my theme music for the day. Love West Coast.
Back to work until 5:30, followed by rush hour into DC. Traffic, 5 lanes each way. Standstill.
Moving on! I get home take a shower and that looks like this....
Next was some lazy single gal dinner. I only had 2 cookies and it's Friday. You don't know my life!

9:00 means is time for scary movie night. But first to get in the mood, my bff and I played hide and clap. All the lights get turned off and only night lights are left on. The seeker gets blind folded, spins in the middle of a room while counting to 10. They can ask the hidden people for 3 identifying claps. The person who is hidding can only move again once the seeker has walked past them. If you get found you then are out and can in large groups, blind fold yourself and help the seeker. Last one to be found is the winner. This game is extra creepy if you have ever seen The Conjuring. Playing in the dark makes it scary for everyone.

Next we watched Torment. Meh it was OK. No spoilers here. But not realistic at all.

Another round of hide and clap did leave us scared after though! So not to shabby. Then YT in bed until I fell asleep watching Shane Dawson so I wouldn't be scared hahaha.

I hope y'all enjoyed a look at my life! Leave me some comment love below! Stay sane, stay sassy and I'll see you later!

Tea Anyone?

Good morning, Sassy friends and some less then sassy people, who might be reading this blog. Go you! No but really - Welcome and happy freaking Friday.

Could I be any happier. No. Well, yes, I could, like what if I was on vacation in Bali with my sugar daddy, drinking a diamond martini and having my feet rubbed while I snuggle with my pet Lemer, who would be named FURRY BUTTER BABY AKA Franz. That would be pretty cool.

Buuuuut I'm as realistically happy as possible on a normal Friday morning.

Let us sally onward. I'm here to talk about something important. Myself. Hot cha cha! Today I'm shooting a day in my life for y'all to see tomorrow. Oh the fun and possible horror. I hope someone out there is enjoying my blog content as much as I'm enjoying making it.

Lunch Break!

Hello Sassy pants! I have some musings for you again today! WooHoo says absolutely no one. I think my stats are showing maybe 1 peorson has read this blog. So here ya go, this one is for you pal.

I love my lunch break at work. Its this special time when I get to cut off all the BS. I go to my car kick off my shoes, roll the window down, and this is the best part, I do exactly whatever it is that I want to do.

A number of my coworkers get upset about this and say I'm being antisocial, I'm mean, I'm not a good friend. Blah blah blah. Its all about how they feel not what I want or need. I am a very private and introverted person, unless I know you very well. I also like to keep strictly business at work.

My private life is just that. Private. I am bubbly and friendly, I am polite and kind but, some days I want to ask people to back off. I need that 30 minutes to recover and get back my sanity. I need time to get over the fact that some people are inconsiderate butt boxes.

Do any of y'all feel that way? I've had a hard morning and this coworker makes it, well...not at all, easier. So I need my space so I don't flip out and possibly flip you off. Is it too much to ask? A break on my break?

DIY Home Ombre

My big idea for my Sunday after noon. Home DIY ombre. I wanted to go all natural and do it my self at home instead of spend hours and a fortune at the hair dressers. So I went a little crazy and mixed up two parts Hydrogen Peroxide, one part water and one part lemon juice into a spray bottle and went to town on my hair.
                                                             The ingredients

Disclaimer Alert!!! I have information on this from two sources, the internet and from being a child of the late 80's early 90's. If you do any harm to your self or your hair or anything at all, I am not responsible! Do your research, just like I did!! Think it through before proceeding. I take no responsibility for what you may do because of me sharing my experience!!!

Here is my before, please excuse the mess o' hair I have going on. My locks are very curly and brushing them before a photo would be disastrous. You are getting it all natural today!

I applied the mixture to my bangs and the ends of my hair, blow dried and repeated three times. Then I spayed again like a mad woman and went and sat in the full sun for 20 minutes.

The after

Not much difference, but in real life you can see it a little. I just look like I have highlights. I will defiantly be doing this process again in a few day and will check back with yall.

If you have any tips or hints, please leave me a comment! Thanks and Gooooood byeee!

Saturday Thrifting and Rambling

I woke up extra early this morning, cut the grass and cleaned the house. Then I looked at the clock and it was only eight (Yikes, what am I some crazy person? I was so tiered when I went to bed at one in the AM. So why I was up at five....Who knows not me. It is five now and I feel like I have lived two whole days with no sleep and am shattered and ready for bed. But no, life, I must live it to its fullest, on the weekend.) So I decided today would be a great day for a little DC thrifting fun.

I went to the GW first and then I hit up some yard sales and was to exhausted to continue. I really wanted to hit up some of my favorite shops but I was about to die of the sleeepy, so I went to the Wegman's and bought some yummy food, I am making pesto and fresh pasta for a little dinner get together with my sister. I also want to have a girly movie night, but we shall see.

And without further delay, here is my absolute favorite find of the day!

I have been looking all over for pink/floral everyday china and this is perfect!

I am so in love! Yall have to forgive my terrible lighting and shaking hands though.

Daily Dose of Sass #1 (Aka Girl You Can't Drive!)

I have a friend who can't drive a car like a normal human. Normal human requirements for driving, in my book, includes, getting where you want to go in a reasonable time, following most of the laws of the roads, and actually knowing how to drive a motor vehicle. Simple enough right? No. Let me give you the evidence here.

If your boyfriend will not ride in a car you are driving, that should be clue number one for ya. If you dilly dally at stop signs, don't go when clear, then panic and pull out in front of traffic, that's clue number two. If you once drove all over town in second gear and wondered why your car was acting up??? Ding ding ding, number three!! If you have almost hit a pedestrian on numerous occasions, that's number four. If you drive like a slug then out of nowhere as we come to a stop light, floor it, then slam on breaks. You got number five. And you do this every damn time we are in the car!

After today please let it be known I ain't riding with your dumb butt anymore! If it was up to me you would be banned from the roads!! I got five signs here that prove you are guilty of being a crap driver. Believe me I could keep going. But I'm a lady and I don't want to get ugly on a Friday afternoon.

But for real. You can't drive. This is why I'm not your ride or die bff! If we riding in your car, there is a chance that I'm gonna think I'm bout to die! I can't take the stress!

Thank you people of the blog for letting me get this out and in the open. I promise less bitching next post.....or not.

Beach vacation 2014

I didn't take my camera to the beach with me this year, in a conscious effort to stay present and focused on everything around me, and not focused on a camera lens or being worried about losing or breaking something.

I took one beautiful picture on my phone and captured a perfect personal moment. And I want to share it with you.
My sister and I took a long evening drive, allowing our selves to nearly get lost, and we loved it. I saw so much I would have missed. The world has so many hidden gems, and this is one of my favorites so far.

A little Lotus preserve, nestled into a bend in the road. You blink, you miss it. I choose to pull over and capture the beauty of the Native American Lotus at sunset. This captures the vibes of my vacation perfectly.

Let's start at the very beginning.

Hello Sassy Pants! I am starting this blog to share the struggles and joys of my life. This blog will contain all things me. Rants and raves, hauls, tutorials, and ramblings.
I'm a 27 year old woman, born and raised in Georgia, now transplanted to Virginia. I have weekly trips and explorations in our nation's capital, Washington DC. I'm a little country, a little city, and a lot sassy. So I hope you will join me for my adventures in life, love and the pursuit of a story worth remembering.

Good Morning

I hope y'all can handle this!
